![]() “We're always in service to tattooers,” Smith says. They're not in the business to become incredibly wealthy and famous they're looking to help tattooers in as many ways as possible. These days, Sullen is one of the most recognizable names in the ever-growing tattoo industry, and while some tattooers may complain about brands capitalizing on tattooing's new mainstream market appeal, Smith and Hanna believe they're going about everything the right way. “The sacrifices you have to make just to create a living, breathing business, we wouldn't be able to recreate it. “If your heart's not in it, you won't find success,” Smith says. There was a lot of uncertainty, but we always knew we'd succeed.” We were driving around throwing up stickers in the middle of the night, things like that. We didn't have the money that some people had, but not everyone was willing to grind like we were. “We knew that anything that required extra effort, that's where we'd succeed. “We always knew we would succeed,” Hanna says. Smith's experience as a tattoo artist made the switch seem like a natural progression, and although it took a few more years of grinding day and night before the brand really caught on, the co-owners never doubted that they'd be successful in their new industry. So we started doing tattoo conventions and really found our audience, but it was years before we realized this is where we belong.” “We tried bringing the tattoo aesthetic to the beach culture, but it didn't fit. “I was always drawn to surf graphics and branding because it was the illustrated creative artwork out of the SoCal beach culture, but I always responded better to things that were darker and more moody,” Smith says. We were hustling t-shirts as much as we could.”Īfter years of struggling to make a name in the logo-based world of surf and skate apparel, Hanna and fellow co-owner (and 20-year veteran tattooer) Ryan Smith realized they should try moving into a relatively unclaimed market, the world of tattoo-themed clothing. “We had about 30 athletes, and we were at every skatepark, surf contest, parties, anything we could to get our name out there. “We were pushing action sports for a while,” says Jeremy Hanna, co-owner of Sullen. A handful of artistically designed skateboards and surfboards are still scattered around the Sullen Art Collective headquarters in Los Alamitos, but that's the only remaining sign of the origin of the 14-year-old tattoo-based lifestyle company.

Benefits of hyper-personalizationīy offering hyper-personalized experiences to the customer, businesses can achieve the following results: Let's see why using hyper-personalization in business is important. Art, because the way to achieve hyper-personalization varies from company to company, and relies on a different interpretation for each customer base. Science, because it’s not random, but rather based on careful analysis. So, after we’ve leaned so heavily on data, why is hyper-personalization often thought of as an “art” instead of a “science”? This means unifying data from multiple sources and devices – like social media, mobile browsing, purchase history, consumer trends, or data from IoT devices, to create “segments of one”. The data used in this case goes beyond basic demographics and general preferences – they are a product of analyzing the customer journey and individual customer profiles. In order to provide hyper-personalized experiences to the customer, businesses need to focus on data. Using customer data for hyper-personalization No matter which personalization approach your business prefers, it all revolves around customer data. It’s about using data, AI machine learning, and predictive analytics to understand your audience’s individual behaviors and make interactions more relevant to them. This new version of personalization is part of the so-called “hyper-relevance” of the digital era. Hyper-personalization is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and real-time customer data to display relevant content, products, services, and information to each individual user or customer. Part of the problem seems to be the misconception that some people have that all games are for children, despite some having 18 certificates on the front of them (or M for mature if you’re in the US). I find it a little strange that it’s fine for games to be gory as hell and feature decapitation and dismemberment (hello Fallout 4‘s Bloody Mess Perk…I still love you) but some people go crazy if they feature sex and nudity. But please…won’t somebody think of the children? Not a good game to play in the same room as your granny. In Monster Monpiece and its follow-up Moe Chronicle, you have to touch or rub girls in the right place in order to power them up. They’re far from the best depictions of sex that I’ve come across in games though and I’ll explain why below. I buy them expecting some sexy, silly fun and they deliver. I don’t buy them expecting Shakespearean epics or a deep philosophical discourse. Some of those games are almost like Japan’s answer to the Carry On films…it’s kind of naughty but in a very silly way. They’re not quite hentai ( a sub-genre of anime and mangas featuring overtly sexualized characters and sexually explicit images and plots) but they are fan service heavy games. It’s done in more of a pervy and comedic manner. None of them feature it maturely or even make any vague attempt to do so. ![]() I wouldn’t even say that the games I highlighted above handle sex particularly well. Terraformars is apparently set 600 years in the future, yet aside from space travel, genetic manipulation and terraforming i guess, no technological advancements were made by the human race. Special shout-out to the shitty worldbuilding of this series. Unfortunately these moments are rarer than you might assume and usually over quite quickly. The best moments of the show are when it throws away any pretense of storytelling and just goes into full-on hot-blooded action-mode. We get shots that linger forever for no good reason, characters standing around doing and saying nothing for extended periods of time, tons of narrator delivered exposition and a ludicrous amount of flashbacks that sometimes take up the entire duration of an episode, while not really adding anything substantial. The main problem with the storytelling in Terraformars isįor a series that prides itself on being nothing but dumb action and violent fights, it’s actually painfully slow. The entire plot is just an excuse to get the characters to Mars as quickly as possible and make them fight a whole lot and i suppose it does achieve that just fine. Really, there’s not a whole lot to talk about in terms of story. Sounds radical, right? Unfortunately it isn’t and here i’ll explain why. Terraformars, an anime about a bunch of genetically modified humans with animal powers that get sent to Mars to exterminate a race of hyper evolved humanoid cockroaches called Johj. ![]() I watched the uncensored release of the anime. If you're a fan of excessive gore or the manga then this might be for you. Terra Formars was simply another rushed adaptation that felt more like an eyegasm for the fans than an actual show. I'd rather take my chances watching another Michael Bay film that sitting through this again. Unlike other nonsensical series like Elfen Lied, Terra Formars became more of a chore to watch. ![]() I'm a completionist, the only reason I even finished this nonsense was because of the short run time. Just a fodder fest of people we don't give a fuck about. Not only giving you no time to even care about them, but it also broke immersion when death is treated with no tension. It seems like characters were only introduced to be killed by the next episode. Especially if we don't even remember them by the time the 20min run time is up. Throwing in a depressing backstory doesn't qualify as proper characterization. They mostly follow the lines of common fodder or OP roach killer. There's more depth in your run of the mill shounen protagonist than any of these "characters". They didn't even manage to make them 2 dimensional. I'm not even sure this cast can even be considered "characters". Of course, it will all be forgotten almost as soon as you're finished with the series. Each character's voice actor matched their given traits, standouts being Michelle K. They simply serve to follow the scenes, but does nothing to heighten them. Nothing worth listening to on its own and nothing that really grabs your attention. The same tracks were played continuously, showing no variation at all. The only noteworthy mention should be about the grim backgrounds of the Mars environment. It feels like no effort or love was placed into this series. The character designs, also deserve special mention for looking rather stiff. And to top it all off, it's simply the same design copied and pasted. You'd think by now that CGI will be used in better effect in complimenting a show, right? Well, Terra Formars spits on the face of innovation, giving us hoards of horrid CGI cockroaches that rival that of Gonzo's track record. This co-dependence on the source material to make a cohesive story is just lazy. The show treats the material as more of a glorified add to read the manga than a stand alone work. like slowly going up the rails of a roller coaster and getting ready for the ride but the ride never happens. Plot points that go nowhere and simply end abruptly. Story? What story? Government conspiracies, the mission of Bug II and anything else the show brought up remains unresolved. Some notable cases include Elfen Lied, Gantz, Mirai Nikki, Deadman Wonderland and now the next anime to carry the torch Terra Formars, has stepped up for the challenge. These shows tend to focus heavily on shock factor deaths as a one trick pony, which in turn removes any integrity it may have. Every now and then there's an anime that's released that walks the delicate line of being called absolute garbage and absolute FUCKING garbage. |
